Thank you Syed for the quick answer but I Wish to modify my own local user proper noun since I am now in a dwelling group and the account proper noun is now the aforementioned every bit that of the other pc.

Following Syed's instructions, upto number four. Do you have change Your account name ( loftier lighted in Picture)

I don't run across the Change Your Account Name option in Windows ten Pro. The account username assigned to me is my commencement initial and first 4 letters of my surname. This follows a make clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Previously, it gave my whole name. It'southward not a huge bargain, but it's still abrasive. Whatsoever other ways if this pick isn't showing delight?

I have the same trouble. The selection "modify your account name" does not appear. I have iv user accounts setup on my desktop. On two of them the option to change the proper name appears. On the other ii it does not nor practise they have the options to change the countersign. Very annoying.

With a local account i can modify the proper name but non with a Microsoft account. Is very annoying

How are you trying to modify your business relationship name?
To change Microsoft account name, you need to login into Microsoft website, enter your Microsoft ID and countersign, and and so brand changes to your account proper noun.

The real problem in this underlying question is that the option for "Change the User Name" does non e'er show up and, from what I take noticed, it depends on the operating organization nether which the local account was initially created. I converted two desktops to Windows10. Ane from from Windows 7 and the other from Windows 8.1, The local accounts converted from OS 7 all testify the "Change the User Name" choice. The ones converted from Os viii.ane do not. Further, if ane creates an account totally within Windows 10 information technology besides does not evidence the option to modify the names. Then, it appears to me that Microsoft made a conscious decision to eliminate that option starting with the OS 8.ane
